Large millefiori inkwell and stopper 19th century. fantastic condition - The manufacture of mosaic beads can be traced to Ancient Roman, Phoenician and Alexandrian times. Canes, probably made in Italy, have been found as far away as 8th century archaeological sites in Ireland, and millefiori was used in thin slices to brilliant effect in the early 7th century Anglo-Saxon jewellery from Sutton Hoo.Approx. 110mm (4 )(w)x 160mm (6 )(h) -WEIGHT 2KG - 530
