Two sleeping children in neoclassical dress White biscuit


A White biscuit group, probably after Chantrey of two sleeping children in neo-classical dress early 19th century. Sir Francis Legatt Chantrey (April 7, 1782–November 25, 1841) was an English sculptor of the Georgian era. A notable sculptor in the early 19th century and did many dramatic "romantic" sculptures for church monuments that can be found all over Britain. The 'Sleeping children' sculpture can be found at the end of the south choir isle at Lichfield cathedral and is dated ca.1817. The piece is probably Minton, Copeland or Robinson Leadbetter and has slight Chips to lower base corners and one chip close to their feet. acceptable wear & tear. Approx length 240mm (9 ½”), width 140mm (5 ½”), height 110mm (4 ¼”) WEIGHT 2.7KG
